A date with the doctor for septoplasty

Tomorrow I have a Septoplasty to corrected a deviated septum. This has been a long time coming.

For several years my Wife has been complaining of increasing snoring, and I've noticed that my left nostril gets clogged at bed time. My family doctor has suggested and tried to treat what we thought might be allergies, nothing seemed to help. A couple of weeks ago, a consult with an ENT physician confirmed that my left nasal passage was about 85% blocked. There was a reason nothing worked--the problem was structural. The only solution is surgery.

Septoplasty is now an out-patient surgery, and most doctors no longer pack the nose with gauze. Today, most use flexible silicone splints, please in the nose to hold the septum in its new location for a week. That's the plan for me tomorrow.

I'll keep you up-to-date as I recover.
